What to do in Naples the 1 May 2014? One idea is to dive into Neapolitan culture and history by accepting the invitation of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities which, for the occasion of the Labor Day, will allow tourists and citizens a special visit to the National Library.

La National Library of Naples Vittorio Emanuele III will remain extraordinarily open for the whole day of Thursday 1 May from 9: 30 to 18: 30 with free admission. Visitors will be able to admire the splendid frescoed rooms that house the precious collections of manuscripts, documents and printed books and the Reading Room, the sumptuous Bourbon Ballroom.

The event thus inaugurates the May of the Monuments Neapolitan, the spring festival in the city of Naples full of artistic and cultural events and activities, dedicated this year to the figure of Benedetto Croce.

During the day of the 1 May you can participate in three guided tours at exhibitions:

Where some “Crociani” autographs will be exhibited accompanied by printed editions, interesting manuscripts, rare geographical maps, splendid watercolor drawings, ancient printed texts, precious woodcuts, engravings and lithographs.
