The latest Caritas report on poverty places Campania at the top of the areas of Italy with the highest poverty rate

From 2004 to 2012 the region has lost 194.000 seats and, unlike 2010, jobless confirmed are about 30mila more, with an unemployment rate of 15.5%. Among the employed, however, the 35% works only in black.
One of the most worrying data concerns the resources available for Social Policies: for Campania they are planned 20 cents per capita against the € 160 for the citizens of Valle d'Aosta.

Furthermore, the number of people living on the street is increasing and the age of those who now live under bridges has decreased. According to the report, 909 people live on the basis of an Istat research homeless in a state of absolute poverty. Such poverty scenarios lead many women to prostitution for the sole purpose of earning a few euros to play in the bingo halls or to be used to pay the bills usurious.

The situation is dramatic and Don Vincenzo Cozzolino, director of the Caritas Diocesana of Naples, said that it is necessary to stick to values ​​such as legality, commitment, desire for redemption and the civic passion since they are "the only pillars to which we can cling so as not to be beaten by the statistics, not to be included among the over seven hundred thousand brains on the run that in recent years have left the field ".
