In gallery of Pozzano, a fraction of Castellammare di Stabia, a Circumvesuviana train, departed from Sorrento, has suffered a heavy accident since a part of the roof is uncovered yesterday morning 2 November 2022, but the inconveniences still continue today.
The accident occurred early on, on the train at 7.12 and la circulation was significantly slowed and the service is still haywire after many hours.

The dynamics of the train accident
An area of the cover of a wagon was literally splashed off and a part of the fiberglass sheet has sheared the rubber tube of the compressed air. In this way, the pantograph was unable to stay under pressure, lowering and provoking problems with the power supply of the train. Naturally, it was necessary to stop the train and get off all the passengers, who got on a train on the other track.

The damage on one of the oldest trains of the Circumvesuviana
This incident has reopened the discussion on the problem related to old Circumvesuviana trains. The damage this morning occurred on a T21, one of the oldest of the company, built in the 80s.
Of the approximately 70 Circumvesuviana trains, 20 have undergone refunctionalization and only in 2025 should the first new trains come into operation built by the Stadler company. In total there are 40 new trains.
The question, however, does not only concern the existence of such old trains, but also the maintenance node which should be more constant and cared for.
