European Heritage Days in Naples, museums to 1 euro up to 24

Saturday 20 September 2014 the 31 will be helda edition of the European Heritage Days, an event conceived in 1991 by the Council of Europe and the European Commission with the aim of strengthening and promoting dialogue and exchange in the cultural sphere between European nations. An opportunity for Italian cities like Naples to enhance and promote their artistic, archaeological and landscape heritage.

On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, Saturday 20 September the museums, monuments and archaeological areas will remain open to the public up to 24: 00 at the symbolic cost of 1 euro.

Also Napoli will join the initiative, through a series of events scheduled in the state museums of the city that will welcome visitors until midnight, charging only 1 euro for admission.

Monumental Complex of San Domenico Maggiore

Extraordinary opening up to 24,00 hours
The exhibitions and installations created within the Universal Forum of Cultures can be visited for free: “Words” - Photographic Exhibition by Luisa Menazzi Moretti and “Streets of… 7 cities in 7 minutes” curated by Aldaterra Projects. It will also be possible to visit the exhibition "Masterpieces in detail" with the payment of an entrance ticket of only one euro.

Palace of Caserta

Hidden places. The elliptical vault and the attics

Visits to the elliptical vault and the attics of the Royal Palace to discover the roofs of the Grand Staircase, the historic apartments and the lodgings used by the military during the Second World War. A path through suggestive places of significant historical and architectural value located in the upper parts of the Palace, opened thanks to the collaboration between the management of the Palace and the didactic section of Civita Musea. visitors (groups of up to 20 people) will be able to climb up to the walkable area of ​​the elliptical vault, originally intended to accommodate the musicians involved in the Court, with a splendid view of the grand staircase. Then we will reach the upper part, to observe the complex system of elements that supports the double vault and we will walk the entire structure up to the visit of the attics used to house, during the last world war, soldiers and prisoners. Along the way it will be possible to see the graffiti left by the guests and one
series of objects dating back to the time of war events.

In Library Palatina, where Luigi Vanvitelli's correspondence to his brother Urbano is kept, some Letters by Vanvitelli will be exhibited, selected according to a thematic choice. On the occasion of the exhibition, engravings published in precious eighteenth-century volumes will also be presented. The exhibition will be open from 20 September to 31 October 2014

Caserta - Carolino Aqueduct

Water that comes from afar: the Carolino Aqueduct Between landscape and Vanvitellian architecture Guided tour of the Carolino Aqueduct along a path of about 4 km that leads from the Ponti della Valle to S. Agata de'Goti: a spectacular walk on the last arches of the Bridges at a height of 60 meters, with a visit to the hydrometric station, the ancient ironworks, the inspection towers of the conduit and other curiosities. At the end of the visit the farms will present the typical products of the local food and wine tradition.

Museum of Capodimonte

The Battle of Pavia and the Vandalia

In 1525, the battle of Pavia decided the fate in the war for the dominion of northern Italy between Charles V of Habsburg and Francis I, king of France. The final episodes of the Battle are described in the seven large tapestries exhibited on the second floor of the Museum, woven, a few years later, on preparatory drawings by Bernart van Orley by the refined masters of Brussels. On the occasion of the Heritage Days there will be paths narrated with the playful interlude of the Vandalia choir directed by Maestro Lucio Lo Gatto.

IANUS

The Superintendency and the European Youth Association with the president Paola Testa present IANUS, named after the divinity to whom, it is said, the Vomero hill where the castle stands was dedicated. Ianus derives from Ianua, in Latin it means door and as a new access door IANUS will fill the Castle with music, theater, literature, DJ sets and dances. Artists and musicians will animate the places of Castel Sant'Elmo with events dedicated to children and adults, the Castle confirms itself as a meeting place, for sharing and disseminating culture, day and night. The event is organized in collaboration with: Il canto di Partenope; Professional Training Center for Dance - “Dance Company”; Museum Project Association; Bereshit Association, Compagnia dei Actibanchi Association; Caracol Association; with the contribution of Kayak Napoli; with the patronage of the Municipality of Naples - Youth Policy Department.

The theater company Il canto di Partenope, directed by Mauro Maurizio Palumbo, presents a theatrical action dedicated to non-verbal communication. Schémata is a performance - divided into three moments painting theater and dance - during which actors and dancers will demonstrate to the public that the human being, with his own character and soul, can transform the body into an instrument of connection and communication with their own kind even without speaking.
The proposed theatrical action is the result of studies carried out by the company on the theatrical masks of ancient Greece and on the rites, dramas and actions of the ancient world.

Certosa di San Martino Museum

Harvest in the Certosa. The ancient vineyard of the monks

Saturday 20 September, the appointment at the Certosa and Museum of San Martino is renewed for the harvest of the delicious organic grapes of the ancient Cornicella and Catalanesca strains. The harvest takes place in the gardens, following the path of the vineyard, a plant with ancient historical-religious meanings but also a symbol of abundance and regenerative strength.
The gardens and panoramic gardens of the Certosa di San Martino surround, in five terraces, the entire perimeter of the monumental complex. The green area was arranged in flower beds, surrounded by non-tall vegetation to leave the view of the city free. The Sant'Elmo hill represented the so-called 'agricultural garden': a hybrid of vegetable gardens, citrus groves, vines, olive trees, ornamental plants. The harvest is carried out in collaboration with the I giardini del Sud company.
