Feast of Sant'Anna 2018 in Ischia: the Neapolitan song at the center of the program with music, fireworks, the boat race and free visits!
As every year, the appointment with the Feast of Sant'Anna in Ischia, historic event that reaches its 86th edition this year. For two weeks, until the 27 July 2018, the municipality of Ponte celebrates Sant'Anna, with the culmination of the celebrations on the evening of the last day. Scheduled for the parade of allegorical boats, concerts, artistic performances and the traditional procession of pregnant women.
To animate the event the theme of the Neapolitan song, which will inspire the setting up of the competing boats. Many new features, with particular attention also to eco-sustainability and culture: they are foreseen free guided tours to the submerged Roman port of Aenaria and the volcanic areas of the island, passing for the churches of the village and the Aragonese castle.
Volunteers and local associations also invite everyone to cleaning of the seabed and rocks of the Bay of Cartaromana, where the events will take place. The streets of the village will come alive with live music and food and wine, while the facades of historic buildings will become protagonists of the digital art by Matthew Watkins, with the performance Live Light Painting for Sant'Anna.
In the final evening you can admire the show of lights, fireworks and the simulated fire of the Aragonese Castle, while guests such as Tosca D'Aquino and Gianfranco D'Angelo will pay tribute to the Neapolitan song.
The allegorical boats
As per tradition, 5 allegorical boats will compete with wonderful sceneries dedicated to Neapolitan music. Each will represent a historical period: in the 2018 edition the greats protagonist characters of the real palio of boats will be Pulcinella, Maruzzella, Pino Daniele, Salvatore Di Giacomo and Renato Carosone.
