Naples as the site of the Olympic Games? It will be reality, from the 19 to the 22 September 2013. We talk about the so-called Isolimpici Games 2013 which will take place inside the Virgilian Park and which, for a few days, will make our city relive the glories of its past.
In fact, going back enough with the historical memory, we must remember that Naples was the only western city to host the Italic games in honor of Rome and the Emperor Augustus, thanks to its "Greek nature". Naples, in fact, was one of the ancient lighthouses Magna Grecia and, even during its decay, it kept intact for a long time the Greek language, institutions, cults and customs.
The games, therefore, are called "isolympic" for their five-year frequency. With this event we want to re-propose the duality of the games of the past: a sporting and artistic event and that, in the next few years, it could also be reproduced in other city locations. The hypothesis is to reproduce them every two years, one year after and one before the actual Olympics, to promote and stimulate the economy of our city, exploiting the recovery of tourism.
Fundamental, in this intention, is “the respect and enhancement of culture and the vast . archaeological, artistic, landscape and environmental, which make the Neapolitan and Campania territory unique in the world ".
