In Naples the Mandarin Festival of the Phlegraean Fields will take place in the San Lorenzo Maggiore complex, an opportunity to get to know one of our excellence.

La Mandarin Festival of the Phlegraean Fields come back with a new appointment a Napoli, more precisely the 20 and 21 January 2018 in the San Lorenzo Maggiore complex.

It is the sixth edition of this event which, for two whole days, will make us better know the history of the mandarin typical of the Phlegraean area and also the peculiar characteristics of the Phlegraean Fields, afertile area which lends itself well to the growth of many products.

The area, in fact, is of volcanic nature and the word itself "Flegrei" comes from the Greek and means "to burn", precisely in reference to the eruptions of the volcanoes. The Phlegraean Fields include the Municipalities of Bacoli, Monte di Procida, Pozzuoli, Marano di Napoli, Quarto Flegreo, and also areas of Naples with Bagnoli, Fuorigrotta, Pianura, Posillipo, Soccavo, Agnano and Pisani. In this geographical area, which also includes the islands Procida, Vivara e Ischia, the soil is very fertile and allows the growth of excellencesincluding Mandarin. And the Feast in his honor, in the Church of San Lorenzo Maggiore in Naples, will be an opportunity to taste tasty varieties and learn about curiosities and interesting information.

  • Simulated archaeological excavation by the "Kyme Archaeological Group"
  • Visit to the excavations of the underground archaeological area where the remains of the heart of the Roman city and traces of the Greek city are visible
