San Lorenzo arrives! Here's where to see / watch the falling stars during the night of the 10 August in Naples and Campania!

La Night of San Lorenzo is known worldwide as "The night of shooting stars", where the summer sky, if clear of clouds, offers one of the most beautiful natural spectacles in the world. The Perseids, scientific name of the "shooting stars" are actually asteroids-meteorites that come from the constellation of Perseus and that leave light trails in the sky from late July until about 20 August, with a peak that is concentrated around 10 August.

To admire the magical celestial spectacle it will be necessary to stay with the nose up, choose poorly lit places and hope that the sky is clear. Also to Napoli it will be possible, of course, to observe the shooting stars, and finding a suitable place to enjoy the show is not impossible! Ready to express wishes?

Here are the most strategic ones to go to during the night August 10th, 2014:

On Mount Faito with Astrocampania and WWF

10 August 2014 from 20 pm on the Marinella beach in Sant'Agnello (Sorrento peninsula - Naples). A special space will be dedicated to the observations of the "perseids", the shooting stars of San Lorenzo, the Moon, the planet Saturn and the wonderful stars of the summer sky. Free participation.

Program of the evening

At 21.00 pm the projection of images of the underwater world will begin “… walking under the Vervece” which will be presented by Enrico and MariaRosaria Gargiulo (world champions of underwater photography). On the Solarium of the beach it will be possible to listen to a concert of the most beautiful film music and observe the stars and lunar craters thanks to telescopes made available by the AstroCampania Association. Also present the WWF will be present with many gadgets and valuable advice on the sea

Camaldoli and Capodimonte

They are ideal places, for those who intend to stay in Naples, to admire the spectacle of the shooting stars without being "disturbed" by the city lighting and the chaos of urban traffic.

Minicruise from Pozzuoli

A wonderful idea is to observe the shooting stars in the waves of the sea, aboard a small cruise ship. It is the initiative of the motor ship Myriam who organized an evening on the boat that will make the tour of the Gulf of Naples with boarding from the port of Pozzuoli. Menu served on board, disco and entertainment. Price € 15, including drink. Reservations required, more info on official fanpage.

Mandolins under the stars in Piazza del Plebiscito

A free concert in Piazza del Plebiscito to listen to the sweet music of mandolins, while the famous Neapolitan square will become an observatory to admire the shooting stars. At 00.00, the lights will go out to let the darkness fall and make the starry sky a star. For more information see the dedicated article.
