The Historical Regatta of Amalfi proposes the rowing palio that sees the four great Maritime Republics collide!
Il 12 June 2016 the sixty and first edition of the Historical Regatta with the participation of the four big ones Maritime Republics of Pisa, Genoa, Venice and indeed Amalfi.
La challenge with rowing he set off in the 1955 and, since then, a year each, the four Republics host this spectacular event that sees him compete four Galleons, one for each Republic, made in the style of the twelfth century, but with modern materials such as fiberglass. Each Galleon is painted with the predominant color of the flag of its own Republic, carries a crew of eight rowers, two reserves and a helmsman and will have to travel in the fantastic Gulf of Salerno, a long race course well 2000 meters, from the Capo di Vettica to the Marina Grande of Amalfi.
For the occasion, theAncient Arsenal of the Maritime Republic of Amalfi, a unique example of early medieval architecture that houses the Museum of the Compass and the Maritime Duchy.
It will be possible to watch the Regatta on TV too, on Sunday 12 on June at 18.05 on Rai 2.
The parade
The event will be enriched by a procession that will tell the story of 400 years of history, between weddings and battles, of the four participating cities. There will be 320 figurants, 80 for each Republic and will parade from Atrani to Amalfi. In a particular excursus dedicated to the Medioeveo, doges and leaders will meet in an exceptional way.

The Palio will be the flagship event of a weekend already rich in events sports and cultural, as the aforementioned procession.
On 11 June, the day before, there will be a live appointment in Piazza Municipio with the "Chamber songs"Proposed by Gaetano Curreri, Stadium leader. He will be accompanied by the Solis String Quartet, a talented string quartet. Songs by the Beatles, Lucio Dalla and other tributes will also be proposed. The concert will start at 21.30.
The 12 may, instead, will close the concert of the pianist Danilo Rea, international jazz star, and Francesca Fusco on vocals. The live will be opened by the Otre Project. Again, the time will be 21.30.
