The zoological station
The Anton Dohrn zoological station in Naples, founded in 1872, is among the renowned public research institutes in the fields of Marine biology and ecology, specifically in relation to marine organisms, their biodiversity, their evolution and the dynamics that characterize marine ecosystems.
Structure
The station hosts:
- il Science and Society Committee, aimed at involving the general public in order to stimulate dialogue and active participation in the life sciences and the environment
- theAquarium, one of the first public aquariums in Europe, dedicated to the flora and fauna of the Mediterranean
- il Turtle Point, marine turtles recovery center
