A week full of events welcomes the arrival of summer at the Maschio Angioino in Naples with many cultural activities of historical interest
Re-enactments, conferences and visits will be under the banner of the day in the coming week from 21 to 28 June 2018 al Maschio Angioino in Naples, a stone's throw from the seafront. On the occasion of the summer solstice the Neapolitan castle opens to the public revealing the most recent discoveries and studies carried out in recent years by IVI researchers - Interactive Video Itineraries.
The week opens Thursday June 21 with the conference “Other Renaissance / New Renaissance. Re-readings of the Sala dei Baroni ”which will last until the afternoon. From 17.00 onwards (the event will also be repeated the following days) you can attend the event "The secret of the Book of light"Which starts from the curious phenomenon of light that can only be admired at the Maschio Angioino.
On Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 June two historical reenactments will be staged, respectively at 16.00 and 12.30: "'O Sole' e Napule - Summer solstice festival"On Saturday afternoon and"Feast of St. John the Baptist: re-enactment of the meeting of Lucrezia d'Alagno with King Alfonso of Aragon" Sunday morning.
The secret of the Book of light
On the longest day of the year at the Maschio Angioino you can attend the Evocative Tour which will show us one of the most curious phenomena, the result of recent research carried out by IVI researchers: through the largest window of the Sala dei Baroni, the sun enters projecting on the opposite side in a given period of time a shape that is gradually defined as an open book. The visit will allow participants to witness the phenomenon and find out what secrets lie behind this discovery. A reservation is required.
