Sunday October 5 2014 there will be numerous appointments with cultural and artistic heritage in our city. In addition to the possibility of visit for free museums and state art and archaeological sites (like every first Sunday of the month), Naples will also join the initiative Sunday of 2014 Card, promoted by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism.

Sunday of Carta 2014: the voice of history and books is a national event that will provide for the extraordinary opening of libraries and archival institutes throughout Italy. The objective of the interesting cultural initiative is to enhance, in addition to the museums with statues and paintings and the archaeological areas of precious finds, also the "Paper monuments", which constitute an equally impressive and rich heritage, preserved in archives and libraries.

Culture enthusiasts, but also the curious who intend to rediscover this heritage, will be able to visit as many as 46 state public libraries and 135 Italian state archives which represent real "caskets" that contain manuscripts, documents, parchments, books, newspapers , magazines, but also drawings, prints, photographs, maps, engravings and pieces of great rarity. For the occasion, guided tours, exhibitions, meetings, screenings and theatrical and musical performances were also organized.

State Archives

THEState Archives of Naples participates in the project "Domenica di Carta 2014" opening to the public the monumental spaces of its headquarters in the former Benedictine monastery dedicated to Saints Severino and Sossio Sunday 5 October 2014, 10.00-1400 hours.

On the first floor you can visit the cloister of Marmo, the Tasso hall, the Catasti room, the Filangieri hall and the cloister of the Platano, environments that still preserve the original monastic structure; on the fourth floor, on the other hand, you will come into contact with the most properly archival spaces of the Library, the School of Archives, the Diplomatic Room up to the Hall of the noble Archives, the Salone del Sommaria and the rooms occupied by the Pignatelli Aragona Cortés family archive .

The Archival Superintendency for Campania will open its prestigious Palazzo Marigliano office to the public.

Between images and documents from the De Filippo Archive

The inauguration of the exhibition will take place at 10.30 "Among Eduardo's papers" - Images and documents from the De Filippo Archive ". The exhibition through theatrical scripts, subjects and cinematographic scripts, photographs, posters, theater programs, letters, press clippings, sketches, contracts, borderò, allows you to follow the human and artistic itinerary of Eduardo De Filippo, starting from his theatrical and family roots (with documents concerning his father Eduardo Scarpetta) up to the season of great masterpieces and maturity.

The exciting journey inside the National Library of Naples continues through the manuscript testimonies of ancient geography, from the beautiful Neapolitan codex of Claudius Ptolemy, one of the most significant examples of the work of the Alexandrian geographer, up to the splendidly illustrated maps of the Kingdom of Naples in the XNUMXth century.

It will be possible to visit the Restoration Laboratory and to follow, through a photographic journey, the interventions performed and admire works that have been expertly restored. Projections, debates and meetings on the themes of Diversity will take place in the recently inaugurated room dedicated to the issues of social exclusion and marginalization.

University Library of Naples

On the occasion of the national paper Sunday event, the University Library of Naples organizes, at 10,30, the presentation of the novel There was a boy like me by Alfonso Cusano, Polidoro Editore.

Alfonso Cusano, architect, visual artist, was born in Pomigliano d'Arco in the 1950. In the book that presents the author recalls the memory of the family, childhood and adolescence lived in the fifties and sixties, from a provincial town to the big city, Naples, in the boom of reconstruction and speculation.

In the stories of the parents, still the memory and the pain of the war, but around it, the vortex of a world that is forever changing: consumerism and new fashions, Vietnam and the flyout out of school; and then of course music - with English bands, rock - the soundtrack of the great change.

The day continues with guided tours and readings of pieces on the sites of the University Library, the Jesuit insula, taken from the texts on display during the extraordinary opening of the institute.
