One year after the death of Diego Armando Maradona, our city wanted to pay him one of the most beautiful tributes: a life-size statue was placed outside the Fuorigrotta Stadium, for many months named after him.
La official presentation of the statue will be there Sunday 28 November 2021 before the match against Lazio and already Lorenzo Insigne, the striker loved by all the fans, has invited the supporters to be ready to celebrate this beautiful event in a big way.
The big party at the Stadium
As mentioned, it is currently located outside the Stadium, but will be presented inside before the game and most likely will do one ride on the running track in order to be shown under each sector to fans.
It was commissioned by Stefano Ceci, a former manager and friend of Maradona and will be donated to the city also thanks to the positive opinion of the mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi and the president of Calcio Napoli Aurelio De Laurentiis.
On 25 November, the stadium was taken out in the presence of Maradona's son, Diego jr, who cut the ribbon, of President De Lurentiis together with Corrado Ferlaino. Former footballers Bruno Giordano, Beppe Bruscolotti and Alessandro Renica were also present.
The golden statue of D10S
The statue dedicated to D10S is gilded and was made with the number 10 shirt, of course. It is the work of the Fonderie Del Giudice di Nola. There are also lo on the shirt title , Coppa Italia and our footballer has a ball at his feet.
The left hand and foot are the "original" ones because they were made using a 3D scan of his real limbs. Instead, at the base of the statue the phrase “I am Neapolitan too” dominates.
