The actor Alessandro Gassman becomes an honorary citizen of Naples thanks to his love for the city and his commitment to important theatrical roles.
Alessandro Gassman is an honorary citizen of Naples and this was decided by the Council of the Municipality of Naples on the proposal of the mayor Luigi De Magistris, as a certificate of friendship and affection of the city towards the Roman actor and director.
La The award ceremony for honorary citizenship will take place on 17 December 2018 at 16.00 pm in the Sala della Giunta of Palazzo San Giacomo. The reasons lie above all in thecommitment of the actor in roles concerning Naples, as in the fiction "I bastardi di Pizzofalcone", and in important directing roles, as in the show "Fronte del Porto" by Elia Kazan, staged in Teatro Bellini.
The same Alexander Gassman it feels adopted from Naples and love our city a lot which he considers the liveliest in Italy, very lively and rich in cultural events as well as a profound theatrical intensity. Furthermore, according to Gassman, Naples does not experience the depression that characterizes our social, cultural and political life. This is because our city has “always been used to living in the crisis, in these moments it is more equipped to overturn the many difficulties positively. If I had to choose where to live, I would definitely do it here. And, then, even the historic center today is cleaner than in Rome, an unprecedented fact ”.
With the conferment of honorary citizenship, the mayor wants to return the link between Naples and the actor is even closer.
