From 8 to 30 December 2024, Naples will come alive with the third edition of the exhibition “Other Christmases“, dedicated to the theme “Birth and Rebirth”. The event, promoted by the City of Naples, offers a rich program of over 50 appointments free events that include meetings, shows, workshops and performances. The aim is to promote intercultural dialogue and social cohesion, through a narrative that intertwines tradition and innovation, involving different corners of the city.

A varied and inclusive programme

The “Other Christmases” review aims to explore the cultural heritage of Naples, offering an opportunity for the city to experience the Christmas period as a time of collective rebirth. Among the various events, the following stand out 5 reviews e 13 single events, developed in well 8 municipalitiesThe program includes a wide range of activities, designed to involve different audiences: from activities for children and families, to moments of cultural dissemination, up to shows that celebrate the artistic and religious heritage of the city.

Special events for a different Christmas

Giro Giro Napoli – Christmas Special

Among the most significant events there is Giro Giro Napoli – Christmas Special, a program of guided tours dedicated to children and families. The visits will include two new sites of historical and artistic interest: via Port'Alba, enriched by the artistic installation of Antonio Marras, and Villa Di Donato with the traditional nativity scene of the Barons of Donato. The event aims to combine the experience of a guided tour with interactive laboratory activities, offering an original perspective on the esoteric spirit and the nativity scene culture of Naples.

Alter Oculus by Franz Cerami

Another special project is the video installation “Alter Oculus” di Franz Cerami, hosted in the Church of Santa Croce and Purgatory at the Market from 1 to 21 January 2025. The installation reflects on the theme of the gaze and of being seen, offering an immersive and emotional journey through 11 projections that will fill the empty frames of the church. Each frame will become a door to a different story, creating a symbolic dialogue between past and present.

Cultural events for the whole family

Between the'8 and the 10 December, Church of the Most Holy Annunciation Major will host the review “Party for the Missed Rebirth”, a musical show featuring artists such as Peppe Lanzetta, Maurizio Murano e Patricia Spinosi, accompanied by theDiscantus Orchestra. The event celebrates the themes of birth and rebirth through a mix of religious tradition and popular culture.

Furthermore, the review “ContaminAZIONE – Prologue of a rebirth”, Edited by Acta APS Designs, will take place at Palazzo Cavalcanti and at theFormer Military Hospital by 10 22 to December, with debates and concerts that explore the theme of cultural contamination and artistic innovation. Guests will include artists of the caliber of Christian Godano e Massimo Zamboni, offering a variety of artistic perspectives for audiences.

Music as the protagonist of the rebirth

Music will play a central role in the review “Other Christmases“, with concerts hosted in some of the most beautiful churches in the city. From 12 14 to December, Church of Santa Maria la Nova will host the exhibition “Art as Rebirth – Christmas at La Nova“, with performances by artists such as Antonella Ruggiero e Joe Barbieri, which will address the themes of “In-canto”, “Luce” and “Meraviglia”, inviting the public to reflect on the beauty and hope that Christmas represents.

Christmas in the Churches: Between Shows and Tradition

The program also includes 13 events hosted in churches of five different municipalities, from 12 27 to December. The events include theatrical performances, musical concerts and workshops, with events such as “The Voices. Stories of wars, loves and rebirths" at the Basilica of Santa Maria della Neve and "Totò the good: miracle in Naples" at the Church of San Giuseppe in the Incis District.
