Blind Vision is the multimedia installation by the artist Annalaura di Luggo that will take visitors on a sensory journey to discover the world of the blind.

From 7 December 2017 to 8 January 2018 will be installed, in piazza dei Martiri in Naples, a multimedia installation in the form of a dome, in which you can enter, which will welcome Blind Vision, photographic project performed by the artist Annalaura di Luggo, already presented to the public during the May of the Monuments and now proposed for the Christmas holidays.

The work was created in collaboration with the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Naples and the Colosimo Theater Association and is promoted by the Municipality of Naples with the support of the Department of Culture, the Department of Sport, Heritage and Public Lighting and the Youth Department. The multimedia installation is curated by Raisa Clavijo

Blind Vision is a project of site-specific light design strongly desired by the artist Annalaura di Luggo in Piazza dei Martiri, one of the most popular places in the city of Naples during the Christmas holidays, to make it a viable alternative to traditional Christmas illuminations and to "illuminate" the minds and consciences of people, at a time when we are generally more sensitive to solidarity than a very delicate issue: the world of different visual skills.

Blind Vision, a sensory journey into the world of the blind

Blind Vision, a journey of light in honor of those who do not see it, this is the complete title of the work, it is a multimedia installation that intends to explore the ways of perceiving the world of the blind and raise public awareness towards greater social and cultural integration of those who are often marginalized and forgotten, combining artistic research and social commitment.

Visitors will be invited to enter one black dome and, for a few moments, they will remain in complete darkness. Suddenly fifteen light boxes they will light up in the darkness, showing irises of blind or partially sighted people that will begin to tell each other, between silences, moments of darkness and light.

It is voices of women, men, young people, of any age, environment and social classfrom international politicians to prisoners, from Hollywood stars to homeless people, more than 1000 people of all types. Their irises, symbol of the identity and uniqueness of every human being, have all been immortalized by camera patented by the artist Annalaura di Luggo in the most complete darkness, to maintain physical contact with each of them and to fully immerse oneself in the sensory dimension of a blind person.

Despite their profound diversity, all the protagonists of Blind Vision they are united by having lost their sight, to be forced into a life without light, ready to reveal to the visitor the daily difficulties of a life in the dark. Transmitting strong emotions such as fear, anger, melancholy, but also an extraordinary desire to live.

Following the multimedia installation the teaser of the documentary directed by Nanni Zedda which will reveal the images of the protagonists.

Blind Vision it is an opportunity to know and explore a world unknown to many of us, and to make a real sensory and emotional "journey of light" that will make us understand that the world can be perceived and live in an alternative way to sight.
