We leave Naples temporarily to review the tasty Trattoria eughenes in Massa Lubrense.
We usually present you premises in the city of Naples only but, given the particularity of this, we want to make an exception. This time we want to review "Eughenes“, A small family-run trattoria which, according to many, has one of the best pasta alla Nerano from the Sorrento peninsula.
The local
A few steps from the main square of Termini, a fraction of Massa Lubrense, this family-run restaurant is hidden. Don't let the appearance scare you! The staff is very cordial and will guide you through the typical flavors of the coast.
The restaurant is small and very simple but in summer they also open a small outdoor space where it is also pleasant to eat.
The menu
The Eughenes menu is obviously influenced by the season and come on fresh products that you can find. The choice of first is enough varies and well balanced between choices of land and sea. Good choice even between seconds and side dishes. But the sweets are another point forte of this place: here you can taste a fabulous caprese with lemon.
The order
We started the meal with the house appetizer. In this dish we were served a braid of mozzarella and two ricottini accompanied by three different types of vegetables (in our case they were escarole, fried aubergines and peppers). In addition there was some ham and some fries. Not happy we tried the much vaunted pasta alla Nerano (fried zucchini with different types of cheese). We must admit it was fantastic and especially expansive!
Even if full we tried the caprese with lemon which made us conclude the meal worthily.
Cost of the evening? About 14 euro per person!!
Conclusions
Eughenes is one excellent alternative to the very expensive and extremely local tourist of the coast. Here you will be sure that each of your dishes is made from fresh ingredients with all the skill that, by now, is getting lost. We will you we suggest I really like the pasta alla Nerano but also the seafood dishes, we have ascertained, they are very good.
