New Year 2014 in Naples, from Piazza del Plebiscito to the Lungomare Liberato

In Naples the night of 31 December 2013 will be celebrated in different locations in the city, including toasts, fireworks, wishes on big screens and disco until dawn

Following the numerous controversies arising from the decision of the Superintendency of Architectural Heritage not to organize the traditional New Year's concert in Piazza del Plebiscito , the Municipality of Naples has announced on its official website some of the initiatives and events that will take place in various Neapolitan locations on the night of 31 December 2013.

It looks like Piazza del Plebiscito won't be completely excluded from the New Year's celebrations. Two giant screens will be set up here, projecting greetings through images, photos, or videos , created by Neapolitans themselves. They can send their creations directly to the City of Naples using the following methods:

• photos, images and videos must have a jpg or png format and must not exceed 3 Mb; videos must have a maximum duration of 10 seconds
• must be sent to the e-mail address webmaster@comune.napoli.it or on Twitter using the hashtag # napoli2014
• The subject of the email must be "Naples 2014"
• No material not relevant to the theme of the event will be used; photos and videos transmitted will not be returned.

Additionally, the following events will take place on the evening of December 31, 2013, and the night of January 1, 2014 :
