Capodimonte Ecological Community, free event on March 14th

Il Museum and Real Bosco di Capodimonte celebrates the National Landscape Day with a morning dedicated to the environment and civic participation. The event is scheduled for Saturday March 14, from 10: 30 to 13: 30, with a series of free activities open to the public.

The initiative is part of the project “Capodimonte Ecological Community”, a network of citizens and associations committed to care of urban greenery and enhancement of the environment.

Where the initiative takes place

The meeting point is in the Community Space, located near the entrance Small Door of the Royal Forest. Here participants will be able to meet experts and third sector associations which will illustrate the characteristics of the large historical park.

During the first part of the meeting, various topics related to urban landscape, ecology and well-being, with an introduction designed to raise awareness of the biodiversity and environmental value of the Capodimonte green area.

The slogan chosen for the day is “Landscape is culture”, a message that underlines the link between land protection and cultural identity.

Educational walk in the Royal Woods

All 11:30 one will start educational walk of about a kilometer inside the Royal Forest. The activity will allow you to observe up close some of the natural and landscape elements that characterize the park.

The route will be guided by operators and volunteers of the ecological network, with the aim of explaining the role of the urban greenery in the quality of life and in building more sustainable cities.

Workshop on home greenery

All 12:00, always in the Community Space, a laboratory dedicated to the care of domestic greenery.

The workshop will offer practical tips for reproduce small natural landscapes on balconies, terraces or corners of the houseAmong the best practices illustrated will be simple techniques for growing ornamental plants and creating green spaces even in urban contexts.

Participation is free and free.

The symbolic work of the day

To accompany the celebration of Landscape Day, the museum has chosen the painting as its representative image “View of Naples from Capodimonte” (1813) of the French painter Alexandre-Hyacinthe Dunouy.

The work shows the city observed from the Capodimonte hill and recounts the urban transformation of the era. At the center of the composition appears the Napoleon Street, today identifiable between Via Santa Teresa and Corso Amedeo di Savoia, built at the beginning of the nineteenth century to connect the Royal Palace with the city centre.

The painting also offers a glimpse of the Palace of Capodimonte still under construction, providing a precious historical testimony to the evolution of the Neapolitan landscape.

An active citizenship project

The meetings of Capodimonte Ecological Community they started in May 2025 and have created a network of citizens interested in protection of public greenery and environmental sustainability.

The appointments are organized on the occasion of international days dedicated to the environment, with educational activities, themed walks, and moments of discussion open to the community.

The project is realized through the collaboration between the company Euphorbia Srl and the associative network WCN – Wellbeing Co‑working Network, with the contribution of the association N'Sea Yet, active in the themes of blue and green economy.

The next date

The calendar of initiatives will continue Saturday March 21, on the eve of World Water Day, with a new meeting dedicated to sustainability and the valorization of the environment in Real Bosco di Capodimonte.
