The story told by the piece transports the viewer back in time, to the age of looting and devastation in the Mediterranean by Turkish pirates who plundered Southern Italy, especially the city of Naples. Women and children were captured and made prisoners and forced to live in inhumane conditions, waiting for a ransom, often sold in African maritime "squares".

It was just the Pio Monte della Misericordia, historical location chosen for the staging of the show, to undertake to free the "captives", that is the Christian slaves imprisoned and tortured by infidels, through the Work of the Redemption of Captivi.

On stage three actors, Serena Pisa, Stefano Ferraro and Antimo Casertano, and the guide Alessia Zorzenon, which will lead the public on this journey in the past of the city of Naples and the artistic and charitable works of the Pio Monte della Misericordia, crossing the evocative rooms of the historic apartment, the precious Quadreria, admiring paintings and sketches by Francesco De Mura, a Neapolitan artist of the eighteenth century, and other famous Italian and foreign painters from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century, including Ribera, Giordano, Pitloo, Stanzione, Vaccaro, Francanzano, Santafede, van Somer.
