The Murolo House Museum in Naples officially joins the National Association of Houses of Memory . The membership was unanimously approved during the General Assembly, following the favorable opinion of the Scientific Committee. This recognition consolidates the cultural value of the house museum dedicated to one of the most iconic figures of Neapolitan song.

Four new entries

Along with the Murolo House Museum in Naples, three other museums have joined the national network: the Giacomo Matteotti House Museum in Fratta Polesine (Rovigo) in Veneto, the Domus Mazziniana Institute in Pisa, and the Carlo Pepi House Museum in Crespina (Pisa), both in Tuscany. These four new additions continue the steady growth of the Italian network of house museums, now present in nearly every region.

The National Association of Houses of Memory

Founded to promote the historic homes of illustrious figures in Italian culture, politics, and art, the National Association of Houses of Memory now brings together dozens of museums throughout the country. As President Adriano Rigoli emphasizes , the network now covers almost the entire country, from the Alps to Sicily, reaching beyond national borders thanks to initial contacts established with Malta.

The Assembly also elected the nine members of the Board of Directors for the four-year term 2026-2030 and appointed new regional coordinators, confirming an increasingly widespread organizational structure. This model demonstrates how the Houses of Memory are increasingly recognized as an effective tool for promoting culture, tourism, and identity.

Who was Roberto Murolo?

Roberto Murolo (1912-2003) was one of the greatest interpreters of Neapolitan song. A guitarist, singer, and actor, he dedicated his life to researching and promoting Neapolitan musical heritage, publishing the monumental anthology "Naples: A History Through Songs." His home, now a museum, houses memorabilia, musical instruments, photographs, and documents that tell the story of 20th-century Neapolitan music.
