Casacinema in Naples, films in original language, meetings and events in the heart of the city

In the heart of the Historic Center of Naples, a few steps from Piazza del Gesù, Born Home cinema, a place dedicated to those who love the cinema in original language, documentaries, author animation and invisible films. Located inside the historic Sunflower Palace, where the offices of are also located Mad Entertainment, the project comes to life thanks to Lorenza and Carlo Stella, with the support of the producer Carolina Terzi and the creative contribution of Neapolitan architects and designers.
The entrance shutters, decorated by the artist Jorit, give access to two screening rooms (one with 90 and one with 65 seats), a third multifunctional room with 50 seats, the Camera d'Or, it's a cocktail bar. The space is thought of as meeting place and discussion, where the film is only the beginning of the dialogue: you can attend screenings, but also discuss, read, listen, have a drink and participate in cultural events.

What is the idea behind the project?
Casacinema is much more than a cinema. It is a shared house for those who see cinema as collective experience, far from the logic of commercial multiplexes. The programming will be curated by Luciano Stella e Alexander Cardone, flanked by a curatorial collective which will deal with specific sections: shorts, queer cinema, documentaries, restored classics, animation, historical films and experimental works.
The underlying philosophy is that of a lively and transversal urban space, where tradition and innovation. The public is seen as an active part, not just a spectator. It is not an "arthouse" place, but a accessible cultural center, also open to poetry, literature, football, psychology, meetings with authors and masterclasses.
Why is this an important project for the city?
Casacinema comes at a time when there is a growing need for proximity cultural spaces. After years of dominance of multiplexes, the need for authentic places, capable of creating, is back community. Naples thus confirms itself as a laboratory of new cultural practices, thanks also to the involvement of institutions such as the Academy of Fine Arts, the Federico II, Suor Orsola, the Teatro Mercadante, the Giffoni Film Festival and the Cineteca di Bologna.
According to Lorenza and Carlo Stella, today there is a curious, transversal public, attentive to quality, which appreciates Japanese anime, Korean films, European arthouse cinema, and does not recognize itself in the standardized circuits. Casacinema is aimed at them: at those who love cinema at the cinema, for those who seek places where visual language intertwines with thought and sociality.
When does Casacinema open and where is it located?

Casacinema will officially open on May 16, 2025 in the heart of the historic center of Naples, precisely in Oil Tank Street 46, near Piazza del Gesù.
The new structure is located inside the historic Sunflower Palace, a location already known to enthusiasts for being linked to the history of Neapolitan cinema and the offices of Mad Entertainment. The opening marks the beginning of a cultural project rooted in the territory, designed to restore centrality to the cinematographic experience, with a welcoming and multifunctional space. A new house for the cinema, born to become a point of reference for those who love films in the original language, but also meetings, cocktails and culture.
