Morgan's stalking case, let's take stock and what he is accused of
The legal case it involves Morgan e Angelica Schiatti has shaken the world of entertainment and raised much controversy over the lack of protection for the victims of stalking. The artist, known most recently for his role as a judge on XFactor, he is accused of stalking and defamation towards his ex-partner, the singer Angelica Schiatti.
Despite the activation of the Red Code and the evidence presented against him, the trial has been stalled for four years. Let's see the details of the case, the accusations made against Morgan and the current status of the proceedings.
How Morgan and Angelica Schiatti met
Morgan and Angelica Schiatti, both originally from Monza, they met about ten years ago in their hometown. Angelica, a young singer and musician, thus begins a brief acquaintance with Morgan. In the first years, the two saw each other occasionally, maintaining a good relationship. At the end of 2019, they decide to deepen their relationship, which quickly becomes stormy.
After about three months, Angelica chooses to end the relationship. Initially, Morgan seems to accept the separation, but with the arrival of the lockdown, the situation changes drastically.

How the alleged threats began
With the lockdown, the situation degenerates: as verified by Il Fatto Quotidiano, Morgan begins sending increasingly threatening messages to Angelica, turning his frustration into a series of persecution.
The singer, scared, decides to report Morgan in May 2020, thus activating the Red Code. From that moment, Morgan's behavior becomes increasingly aggressive and insistent.
Revenge porn on the public group
The situation reached a critical point when Morgan apparently threatened to publish private videos of Angelica. In May 2020, in a group chat called “inartemorgan”, the artist announced his intention to share intimate videos of the singer. Despite the warnings of some participants about the seriousness of the act, Morgan continues his threats, publishing a naked photo of Angelica and responding in a vulgar and offensive manner to those who try to stop him.
A behavior that is a clear example of revenge porn.
As I tell in detail today on Il Fatto, Morgan, on trial for stalking and defamation in Lecco, literally persecuted the singer-songwriter Angelica Schiatti (with whom he had been dating), Calcutta's current partner. From the documents of the trial emerge… pic.twitter.com/TiFgAYq5MJ

After this event, it appears that Morgan began contacting Angelica's mother, accusing her of having manipulated her daughter and, it seems, also threatening her with intimidating messages. Posing as rapper Willie Peyote, according to the reconstruction of Il Fatto Quotidiano, the artist also tried to deceive Angelica by offering her a musical collaboration and then contacted Angelica's producer with offensive and defamatory messages.
The hiring of two people to shadow Angelica and Calcutta
In the reconstruction of Il Fatto Quotidiano, the situation worsens further when Morgan decides to involve third parties stalk Angelica and her new partner, the singer-songwriter Calcutta. In the summer of 2021, it looks like Morgan has hired two Sicilian boys, one of which previous offender, to follow Angelica and report their movements. Morgan explicitly asks them to “bring it to him" and of attack Calcutta, demonstrating increasingly obsessive and dangerous behavior.
The two boys go to Milan and subsequently to Bologna, following Morgan's instructions. They find the house in Bologna where Angelica lives with Calcutta and they take photos of the house. Luckily, they don't get to meet the couple, but their stalking attempt sure is a serious act of persecution.
Morgan doesn't stop there and contact Calcutta via Telegram with highly offensive and threatening messages. His obsession leads him to comment publicly under a RaiRadio2 post with a video of Calcutta, insulting and denigrating him.
The process stalls for more than 4 years
Despite the seriousness of the accusations and the activation of the Red Code, the trial against Morgan has undergone numerous postponements. The first complaint dates back to 2020, when Angelica reported the artist's persecutory behavior. After the search of Morgan's house, the singer becomes even more aggressive. Nevertheless, no approach ban is imposed.
In 2021, Morgan's lawyers manage to have the trial moved from Monza to Lecco due to territorial incompetence, causing further delays. From that moment, the case enters a stalemate phase. Although Morgan continues with his persecutory acts and pays the two Sicilians to stalk Angelica, the trial does not proceed.
The preliminary hearing is finally held on October 10, 2023, but a series of postponements immediately began. Morgan's lawyers try several times to reach an agreement with the civil party, despite Angelica's clear intention to proceed with the trial. The judge continues to grant postponements, leaving Angelica without justice.
The current situation
Given the numerous complaints and evidence presented, Morgan continued to lead his public life almost undisturbed. Despite the indictment for stalking and defamation, the artist remained active in the world of entertainment, participating as a judge on XFactor (only to be suspended), organizing concerts and signing agreements with Warner. Recently, he announced a new program on Rai 3, but it must be said that RAI completely denied the assignment of the broadcast.
In a somewhat bitter paradox, a few months ago, the Ministry of Culture invited Morgan to participate in a debate entitled "Violent songs against women: what to do?“, despite the accusations pending against him. An event that raised considerable controversy, highlighting the lack of coherence in institutional choices.
The Calcutta denunciation and the beginning of the public scandal
The affair also had a strong impact on the career and professional choices of Calcutta, Angelica Schiatti's partner. From his social profiles, the singer-songwriter announced having terminated all working relationships with Warner Music Italia, following the label's decision to offer Morgan a contract, despite accusations of stalking and defamation.
Calcutta initially shared a message from his partner Angelica, in which he expressed gratitude for the support received:
“Thank you very much for the solidarity and affection that I am receiving from many of you. I have been silent for four years and I will continue to remain there (since the facts speak for me) hoping that justice can take its course in humane times. I felt and feel very alone and abandoned by the institutions. This is the condition of a woman who finds the courage to report in Italy, that she tries to defend herself and protect her dignity and that she should never be left alone."

Subsequently, Calcutta expressed his personal position:
“I hate talking about my private life, in fact I hate talking but now it's my turn. Today several articles came out that talk about what my girlfriend has had to endure in these 4 years. I assure you that the atrocious facts reported in the article are only a small part of what happened and have changed our lives more than you can imagine. Unfortunately, the news speaks too often of similar events that end in the worst possible way."

Finally, he announced his decision to leave the record label:
“Warner music Italia (which I cannot tag because it is already on the blocked accounts list) decided to offer a contract to this persecutor despite being aware of the facts. For this reason it seems right to me to interrupt any possible working relationship with this label. The songs I write will no longer be available to the performers on their roster, and all of their employees are no longer welcome at my concerts. It won't even be a pleasure to meet them on the street sincerely because anyone who behaves like this and remains silent in my eyes is an accomplice. Look inside yourself every now and then."

The closure of Warner Music Italy with Morgan
Calcutta's reaction prompted Warner Music Italy to act quickly. The label stated having given a mandate to its lawyers to terminate the contractual relationship with Morgan. In an official note published on social media, Warner Music Italy declared:
“Warner Music Italy, in light of the contents and messages that have emerged and reported by the Italian press today, gives a mandate to its lawyers to terminate the ongoing contractual relationship with the artist Morgan, leaving the issue to be debated in the right places”.
Warner Music Italy
Rai also took a stand, clarifying that it currently has no contract with Morgan. In a statement, Rai said:
“In reference to the controversy over the legal matter involving Morgan, Rai specifies that it currently has no contract in place with the artist”
RAI
Rai also specified that the announced project has not been finalized and that Morgan will not be present at the presentation of the schedules on July 19th in Naples.
Morgan's response
To make matters worse, Morgan recently published a post on Instagram in which he violently attacks his detractors, calling them "violent and misanthropic beasts". This behavior only fuels the climate of tension and uncertainty surrounding the matter.
