News coming for the Castel dell'Ovo of Naples, in fact, the plan for its enhancement will soon start, as the Ministry of Culture, which is the owner of the cultural site, has decided to sell it to the Municipality of Naples in free use for 20 years.
The agreement was signed on September 5th and we are at stake 8 million euros. On the program, there is an investment plan that will serve to restore the Castle from scratch. Indeed, they will be new outdoor spaces opened to accommodate outdoor events, the rooms will be updated with furnishings and new technologies, suitable for hosting congresses, exhibitions and conferences. They will be 4.200 square meters of facades and 550 square meters of open spaces have been renovated, in such a way as to also increase the capacity, from 233 thousand spectators to as many as 400 thousand.
It then seems that there is also the possibility of inserting a entrance ticket. But let's see in detail.
The hypothesis of the entrance ticket
For the new management of Castel dell'Ovo, the Municipality of Naples also provides for the collaboration with private individuals, in particular two companies. Therefore, there will also be the possibility of introducing an entrance ticket for the non-guided visit to the Castle. This ticket will be established only if necessary, everything will depend on the opinion of the MiC Regional Secretariat for Campania. The facility will be open six days a week and the surveillance and maintenance service will be guaranteed.
The scheduled interventions
Castel dell'Ovo is the oldest castle in the city of Naples, it embodies charm and history, but unfortunately today it is located in precarious conditions, as it is exposed to aggressive atmospheric agents, such as storm surges and very strong wind.
For this reason, a plan has been devised that can enhance it and make it happen safe for guests. The program includes these main interventions:
- Enhancement of the museum space of the Castle, with a historical-architectural tour;
- Modernization of the museum complex with innovative technological devices such as videomapping and handheld guides;
- Opening of new internal rooms and arrangement of the terraced spaces, to host cultural and entertainment events, guided tours and thematic exhibition itineraries.
