Three stations of Line 1 of the Naples metro will closed for three months during the summer of 2025. These are the stations of Piscinola, Chiaiano and Frullone, involved in extraordinary maintenance work for the replacement of the tracks, scheduled by ANM and confirmed as part of a broader intervention on the entire infrastructure. The intervention should begin the 20 June, with an expected duration of approximately 90 days.

Which stations will close and why

The three stations involved – Piscinola (terminus), Chiaiano e Frullone – represent a crucial hub for urban and suburban mobility. Piscinola, in particular, is an interchange point with the EAV Piscinola-Aversa subway, while Chiaiano and Frullone host interchange parking lots that are widely used by commuters from the northern area.

The works will concern the Rebuilding of the railway infrastructure, an infrastructure dating back over 30 years. The intervention is part of a project that includes the renewal of 13,5 kilometers of tracks, already underway since October 2024 and with an expected completion within June 2026. During the summer months, one of the two tracks on the section between Piscinola and Colli Aminei will be replaced. The second track will be fixed in 2026.

Will replacement buses be activated?

Yes, ANM has already announced that they will be Replacement bus services activated to ensure connections between the closed stations. The precise methods, times and routes will be officially communicated before the start of the works.

The city councilor Nino Simeone, president of the Transport Commission, urged ANM to provide:

  • official confirmation of closure;
  • detailed timetable of interventions;
  • operational details on the replacement transport service to ensure mobility for residents and commuters.

The route is strategic for access to the city from the hinterland municipalities and the summer suspension could have a significant impact on daily travel.

What are the expected timescales?
