Il Capodimonte Museum in Naples proposes a series of beautiful ones events not to be missed for the Christmas and New Year holidays starting from today 23 December 2021 and until 6 January 2022.

The good news is that, for the occasion, there will also be some evening openings at 2 euro and in some days you can also visit the Church of San Gennaro in the Real Bosco di Capodimonte which was redecorated by Santiago Calatrava.

There are also many educational activities and guided tours of the nativity scene hosted by the Museum, as well as workshops for the little ones.

When you can visit the Museum for 2 euros

The evenings in which you can pay the visit for 2 euros:

  • 27th December
  • 28th December
  • 30th December

In these three evenings, from hour to hour 19.30 22.30 the cost will be 2 euros and the last admission is scheduled at 21.30pm.

When you can visit the Church

Everyone can visit the Church of San Gennaro nel Bosco on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10.00 to 16.00.

The rooms of the Museum: many new rearrangements

Some rooms of the Capodimonte Museum have been rearranged, so it will be even more pleasant and interesting to visit them. We will be able to visit the beautiful collections of the Museum that have always been open until now, but also return to visit rooms that have long since been closed for work.

Definitely worth a visit:

  • the Raphael room which preserves the great preparatory cartoons by the great artist for the frescoes of the Pauline Chapel and the Room of Heliodorus in the Vatican
  • le goes up to the first floor which anticipate the XNUMXth century collection
  • al third floor the sections of the Nineteenth and Nineteenth Century Private Gallery which house the aforementioned nineteenth century collection which will have to be rearranged in the new layout of the Museum. There are also many works by Vincenzo Gemito
  • reopens the Party Hall, one of the few representative rooms on the noble floor where the original gala character can still be admired and which during the early nineteenth century was set up to host receptions during court ceremonies
  • finally also the Capodimonte Armory reopens, which is one of the most important in Europe and which contains weapons of the Farnese family between the end of the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries
  • on the second floor you can visit the Gallery of the Arts in Naples from the '200 to the' 700 with the Flagellation of Caravaggio

Thursday December 23

11.30, Salone degli Arazzi (second floor of the Museum): The Benino nativity scene: a journey into the Neapolitan popular nativity scene, amidst songs and mysteries.
Included in the museum entrance ticket.

Thursday December 30

16.00 pm, Tapestry Hall (second floor of the Museum): Tales and sounds of celebration.
Poems and prose passages on Christmas with traditional music.
Included in the museum entrance ticket.

26th December

Create your shepherd: visit to the nativity scene and laboratory activities for children from 5 to 12 years, accompanied by a parent.

Not included in the Museum ticket: price 7 euros.
Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes.

December 27 and 2 January

At 12.00: the Nativity in art, guided tour of the first and second floors of the Museum

In the weekends

In the hall of the Tapestries you can listen to the music of the pianist M ° Rosario Ruggiero, “A special friend”. In the rooms there will be the Arcoscenico Company which will provide entertainment for visitors with theatrical performances narrating the secrets of the Palace and its most famous inhabitants.

Not included in the Museum ticket: price 7 euros.

The lights of Buren: visit to the Contemporary Art section and workshop for children aged 5 to 12. Third floor and Sala Mele.

  • From 8.30 to 19.30 (last access at 18.30) it will be possible to visit the First Floor with the Farnese Gallery, the Gallery of rare things and the exhibitions in progress on the same floor.
  • From 10.00 to 17.30 (last access at 17.00) it will be possible to visit the Second Floor with the Gallery of the arts in Naples from the 200th century to the Baroque, the contemporary art collection and the exhibitions in progress on the same floor.
  • From 10.00 to 16.00 (last access at 15.30) you can visit the Private Nineteenth Century section.
