The lights in Naples for this Christmas jump due to the emergency, but the markets could be organized.

This year there will be no Christmas lights in Naples because the funds normally allocated to this initiative will come addressed to solidarity initiatives and projects for the fight against Covid.

The lights will be installed only in one building for each district, in a building or a symbolic place of that area. The period of health, social and economic emergency does not allow us to invest the entire sum of 250 thousand euros in Christmas lights, so only 50 thousand euros will be used to brightly illuminate some areas of the city.

This was communicated by the mayor of Naples Luigi De Magistris who specified that also the resources normally used for fireworks at Castel dell'Ovo they will go to charity for solidarity initiatives. It is a very important gesture and message of help and hope in these times when the Coronavirus has also hit our city so hard.

The Christmas markets: all still in doubt

As for the traditional Christmas markets, a lot it also depends on whether Campania is included in the yellow zone or not.

The Municipality has already provided the Municipalities of prepare the announcements to organize the markets, but if our region continues to remain in the orange zone they will not be able to be installed.

THEhypothesis is that Campania passes into the yellow zone from 20 December, but the technical meeting of today 11 December is also expected to find out if anything will change.

Meanwhile, remember that a large Christmas tree has already been installed in Piazza Bovio and that on Lake Miseno there is the traditional floating tree.
