How we use artificial intelligence on Napolike
Su Napolike we use Artificial Intelligence tools within the content production process, both for the creation of texts and for the generation or processing of images.
However, AI is not always used in the same way. Depending on the type of content, the process can be fully automated or foresee a human editorial review before publication.
We have chosen to make this use transparent, allowing readers to know when Artificial Intelligence has played a significant role in the creation of a piece of content.
Article 50 of the European AI Act provides specific transparency obligations for certain content generated or manipulated through AI systems. These obligations apply from 2 August 2026. European Digital Strategy
How texts are created
Artificial Intelligence is used on Napolike for support or automate the production of some editorial content.
Some of the posts are created through an agent-based infrastructure of our own production, which coordinates different systems and steps in the editorial process.
Depending on the content, two situations can therefore occur.
Some posts are automatically generated and subjected to automated checks before publication , without a full prior review by an editor.
Other content, however, while it may be generated or processed with the support of Artificial Intelligence, is manually read, verified, modified, or approved by the editorial staff before publication.
The presence of AI therefore does not necessarily imply that an article was published through a completely automatic process.
Automatically generated content
For some content we use an automated editorial workflow.
The system can take care of collecting information, processing it, generating the text and carrying out subsequent checks before publication.
We have developed a fact-checking engine that delves into every aspect of the post and applies it to verification using only official sources or at least sources with authority in the field.
If there is any hesitation, they are reported to a human control.
If the post is about businesses open to the public, such as a selection of "best restaurants," the businesses are always contacted after publication with a notification of the post and an invitation to verify the information.
Other articles may be generated, rewritten, or assisted by Artificial Intelligence, but are subsequently submitted to the editorial staff for review.
Review may include checking information, comparing it with sources, editing the text, eliminating incorrect or irrelevant parts, and making a final decision on publication.
According to the European Commission's guidelines, human review occurs when a person effectively examines the substance of the content using their expertise and professional judgment. Editorial review also includes the ability to approve, edit, or reject the text for substantive reasons , including through fact-checking and verification of the reliability of sources. Fact-checking and automatic information verification
For the contents produced through our automatic systems we also use tools dedicated to information control and fact-checking.
These systems can compare the information in the text with the sources used and with new sources with recognized expertise in the field, identify possible inconsistencies and request further verification before the content is published.
Automatic fact-checking, however, represents an additional check and does not make an article infallible.
Artificial Intelligence systems can misinterpret a source, fail to recognize outdated information, or produce inaccurate results. For this reason, we consider these tools a means of improving process reliability, not an absolute guarantee of error-free processing.
We work daily on our fact-checking engine to improve it and, above all, to have any potential inconsistencies flagged. In our internal tests, the system currently detects and corrects three times as many errors as a human operator.
Images generated or processed with artificial intelligence
Napolike also uses Artificial Intelligence for generate or process cover images and illustrative images present in the articles.
When we use an image created with these tools, we can make it explicit by saying:
“AI-generated image”
The indication lets the reader know that the image may have been artificially produced and that it does not necessarily represent a photograph of a scene that actually occurred.
AI-generated images are mostly used with illustrative function.
Why do we use AI-generated images?
The use of artificially generated images allows us to reduce the use of photographs and materials from third parties.
Over the years we have received complaints and financial demands regarding the use of photographs even when the images had been regularly purchased, used under license, or provided or authorized by the organizers.
The ability to directly produce illustrative material through Artificial Intelligence tools allows us to simplify image management and reduce issues related to licensing and usage rights.
Transparency towards readers
When a text falls within the cases provided for in Article 50 of the AI Act, information relating to the use of Artificial Intelligence must be provided in a clear and distinguishable manner at the latest when the reader is exposed to the content.
For this reason, this page does not necessarily represent the only information tool.
Napolike can also use indications directly associated with articles or images , so that the reader can immediately understand the role played by Artificial Intelligence in the production of the content.
Artificial intelligence is not a source
The Artificial Intelligence used by Napolike does not constitute in itself a source of the information published.
AI systems are used to collect, process, organize, compare, and present information from sources used in the editorial process.
When available, necessary and relevant, we refer to official sources, public bodies, organizers, direct communications and other parties responsible for the original information.
Errors and reports
Despite the automatic checks and editorial reviews applied to the different contents, errors may occur.
If you find any information that is incorrect, outdated, or unclear, please report it through Napolike's normal contact channels (preferably by email to info@napolike.it).
Reports can lead us to correct content and can also be used to improve automated editorial systems and processes.
This page is updated when technologies or the ways we use Artificial Intelligence change significantly.
