Comicon-off 2018 in Naples: events, special editions and exhibitions for the comic fair

On the occasion of the famous comic fair in Naples, Comicon-off is staged, a rich program of exhibitions, events and shows throughout the city!

From 28 April to 1 May returns to Naples what has now become a regular event for many: the Comicon 2018, the comic fair with hundreds of stands, presentations, shows and competitions. For the occasion, the Comicon-off, rich program of events collateral organized throughout the city.

For the twentieth edition of the review are on the bill exhibitions, shows and meetings with the authors in different locations, from the National Archaeological Museum to the Academy of Fine Arts. The events will continue even for several days, like the Madgermanes, Pompeii and Mann Hero, dedicated to the world of Star Wars.

Among the appointments stand out the Festival of comics and self-production at the Scugnizzo Liberato, the meeting with the illustrator Lorenzo Mattotti and the Cabaret Bizarre, freakshow inspired by Federico Fellini and Bertolt Brecht.

Exhibitions

Following the Tracks: the personal exhibition By Lorenzo Mattotti

from the 6 April to the 27 May 2018 at the Pignatelli Museum

Mattotti, illustrator and cartoonist, will be Magister in the 2018 edition of Comicon. In the exhibition dedicated to him, real and imaginary landscapes, scenes of light and shadow are intertwined. The public will also be presented with a portfolio of the artist's images published by Comicon Edizioni.

Blacksad - Juanjo Guarnido / Juan Diaz Canales

From 2 May to 2 June at the Instituto Cervantes de Napoles 

In the noir series by the Spanish authors, the protagonists of the stories are anthropomorphic animals, characterized according to the stereotype that distinguishes them. Against the backdrop of a realistic 50s New York, in a yellow atmosphere, the cat John Blacksad and his assistant, Weasel Weekly, move.

Variations - Blutch

From 12 April to 2 May at the Institut Français Naples 

The Institut Français hosts the original drawings of Variations, a series by the well-known French cartoonist Christian Hincker, aka Blutch. In the black and white drawings of the French author, the influences of his masters are visible: Crepax, Uderzo, Mezieres, Manara.

Madgermanes - Birgit Weyhe

From the 19 March to the 13 July at the Goethe-Institut Naples 

Birgit Weyhe's graphic novel builds on real events in East Germany in the 70s. To learn about the stories of those who would become the protagonists of her comic comic, the author traveled to Kenya and Uganda, collecting the testimonies with which she built the constant dialogue between Europe and Africa.

Salvation - Marco Rizzo and Lelio Bonaccorso

From 29 March to the Order of Journalists of Campania 

One of a kind, Salvezza is the graphic journalism experiment by Marco Rizzo and Lelio Bonaccorso, who embarked in 2017 on the SOS Mediterranée Aquarius ship to follow the rescue operations of migrants. The collaboration between journalism and the art of comics thus produces a work that goes beyond the news, to bring the reader closer to the life stories of the characters.

Mannhero - The Heroes of Myth from Antiquity to Star Wars

From the 4 May to the 31 July at the Archaeological Museum of Naples

To celebrate the epic and beloved Star Wars saga, the Archaeological Museum of Naples dedicates part of its exhibition space to the mythological drama of the hero, in a combination of ancient and contemporary. The parallelism between the two worlds is told through statues, alien technologies and classic mosaics.

Pompeii - Frank Santoro

From 18 April to 31 May at the Archaeological Museum of Naples

As the title reveals, the exhibition dedicated to the work of Frank Santoro focuses on the graphic novel set in Pompeii in 79 AD, just before the eruption of Vesuvius. In the monochromatic plates move Flavius ​​and Marcus, a well-known painter and his assistant.

Nottetempo - Luca Russo and Lorenzo Mattotti

From 5 to 19 April and from 26 April to 15 June at the HDE Gallery 

The HDE gallery, in the heart of Chiaia, will host a double appointment: in addition to the screen printing exhibition By Lorenzo Mattotti, there will be a space dedicated to Nottetempo, the latest work by Luca Russo published by Bao Publishing.

In the Dark and Mysterious Forest - Winshluss

From 1 April to 2 May at La Feltrinelli Books and Music

Designed for younger readers, Nella Foresta Buia e Misteriosa is the first volume of the Gli Scugnizzi series of Comicon editions. At the center of the story is Angelo, who to find his family will live a fabulous adventure in which he will meet fantastic characters such as ogres, fairies and squirrels.

UE 'Underground Etcetera - Mediterranean festival of comics and self-print

From 27 to 29 April to Scugnizzo Liberato

Appointment at Scugnizzo Liberato with the second edition of the comics and self-production festival, to find new forms of narration and writing and a new way of conceiving sociality. Emphasis will be placed on independent production.

Lorenzo Mattotti in the Academy

Friday 27 April at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples

A special meeting for the students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, where they will be able to meet the Magister of Comicon 2018 and learn about his different experiences as a multifaceted artist.

The Empress - Cabaret Bizarre

Friday 27 April at the Museum of the Underground

In a special location an equally original cabaret is staged: it is the Cabaret Bizarre inspired by Federico Fellini and Bertolt Brecht, a freak show where fantasy, sensuality and freedom of expression reign supreme among artists, jugglers and acrobats.
