Il 25 and the 26 September 2021 there will be theextraordinary opening of the archaeological site of Carminiello ai Mannesi in Naples, under the European Heritage Days.
The entrance to the Monumental Complex is free and the visits will be supervised by the Neapolitan Archaeological Group, always committed to the promotion and protection of these important city archaeological complexes.
The archaeological complex
The site is located in the historical center of Naples, a few steps from the Duomo area, e it dates back to the end of the XNUMXst century AD. This is the dating ofRoman building of two floors whose remains can be admired during the tour. It was discovered in 1943 when a building from the High Middle Ages that was built on it was razed to the ground by the bombing of the war.
The whole area took the name of Complex of Carminiello ai Mannesi after the discovery, while previously only the church of Santa Maria del Carmine ai Mannesi was known.
The Romans used it as spa, but also as a place where practice the cult of the God Mithras.
Reservation and Green Pass required
It is necessary booking that can be done filling out the form on the site of the Neapolitan Archaeological Group. Shifts will take place every 45 minutes from 9.00 to 12.15. A maximum of 20 people can participate in each round.
It will be mandatory to show the Green pass. Let us remember that it can be also downloaded from the IO app o recovered in the pharmacy.
