La Federico II of Naples celebrates the 800 years since its foundation with a special event: a free concert by Malika Ayane in Piazza del Gesù on June 4th at 21pm. An opportunity to celebrate together with the famous singer-songwriter who will also meet the students of the university that same morning.

For the occasion a traffic device has been established for the square.

Here are the details of the evening.

The anniversary of the Federico II University

The Federico II University of Naples, founded by the Swabian Emperor on June 5, 1224, celebrates his eight hundred years of history with a series of special events. The oldest secular university in the world has in fact decided to offer it to the city of Naples a great free concert to celebrate this important milestone on June 4th at 21pm.

The protagonist of the evening: Malika Ayane

Malika Ayane, among the most beautiful and particular voices of our country, will be the protagonist of the concert. Born in Milan to a Moroccan father and an Italian mother, Malika began her musical career at a very young age, studying cello at “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory of Milan. His unique style, which blends jazz, pop and soul, has conquered the Italian and international public, making it one of the most popular artists on the contemporary music scene.

His first self-titled album, released in 2008, immediately achieved great critical and public success. Since then, she has collected numerous prizes and awards, participating in several editions of Festival of Sanremo and collaborating with the likes of Paolo Conte, Cesare Cremonini and Pacifico. Her ability to interpret each song with a unique emotion has made her an icon of Italian music.

The meeting with the students of Federico II

Before the concert, Malika Ayane will meet the students of Federico II University. The meeting will be held in the morning of 4 June 2024, inside the Federician university at the university headquarters, in Corso Umberto I.

A time for students to explore his creative process and learn about the experiences that have shaped her career in a conversation and inspiration where Malika will share her artistic vision and answer questions.

Malika Ayane as godmother of Napoli Pride 2024

In addition to the concert for the anniversary of Federico II, Malika Ayane will be the godmother of Naples Pride 2024, another great event taking place on Saturday 29 June 2024. His participation in Pride, preceded by the second edition of Pride Park, underlines its commitment to the fight against discrimination and its closeness to the LGBTQIA+ community.

I am deeply proud to participate in Naples Pride at a time when, one of the places I am most fond of and have loved for a long time, is finally at the center of the world thanks to its beauty and energy.

Malika Ayane

When they confirmed me as artistic director of Napoli Pride 2024 I had no doubts about the choice of the godmother and evidently she didn't have any to accept either. Malika Ayane replied to the message I sent her to invite her, after a few minutes. The artist has always exposed herself with conviction in the fight against discrimination that still persists in our country. Her image of a strong, independent and determined woman has always fascinated me and I am sure that with her elegance and the power of her voice she will be able, once again, to convey an intense message for the entire LGBTQIA+ community.
