The Cumana di Baia will open in 2024 and will be an archaeological station with finds
Great news for the province of Naples, in particular for Bacoli but not only! The construction site of the new Baia railway station it was reopened after more than 30 years of waiting. It was a project born way back in 2003, but work has finally started again. This represents a epochal turning point for the area, which is preparing for a new beginning, a new era of economic and tourism development.
The new station Cumana of Baia will be the third in the city, and will be open to all by the end of 2024. Also, the station will be of type archaeological because it will include a wide variety of exhibits.
What will be easier to achieve
There will be a boost for tourism which, until now, has never been able to easily reach these areas. When it reopens, it will be easier to reach historical places such as the Submerged Archaeological Park of Baia, Temple of Venus, that of Diana, that of Mercury, the Imperial Palace, Aragonese Castle and Archaeological Museum of the Phlegraean Fields.
In half an hour by train, from Montesanto, from Naples, you can go directly to the Submerged Archaeological Park of Baia. The largest in the Mediterranean. You can visit the Temple of Venus, that of Diana, that of Mercury. The Imperial Palace. The Aragonese Castle, the Archaeological Museum of Campi Flegrei. And then Villa Ferretti, the Federico II University.
The relaunch of Baia passes through this important novelty which represents an opportunity for development and growth for the entire community.
Here is the statement from mayor of Bacoli Jose of Reason:
I'm shivering! We have reopened the construction site of the new Baia station. A dream awaited for more than 30 years. I dedicate this day to all my peers, to all the tens of thousands of Bacolesi around the world who have been forced to emigrate. To run away from Bacoli, because this city was unable to offer him a job opportunity.
Because this land was unable to exploit its enormous cultural heritage. I dedicate this morning story to all the children of Bacoli, unable to stay in their own land because tourism continued to be an empty word.
Without any concrete impact on people's lives, on the real economic development of the country. We are turning the page. With facts. The restart of work at the Cumana di Baia station, after an endless period of litigation, once again opens the doors of our land to normality, to modernity, to a true tourism relaunch.

The first, coming from Naples. Fantastic. I thank the Governor of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca. I thank the President of the Transport Commission, Luca Cascone. I thank Councilor Bruno Discepolo. I thank the EAV President, Umberto de Gregorio. I thank all the municipal administration with whom I work on a daily basis. Together, all the entities involved, we have achieved a miracle.
A civic and administrative miracle. This morning we wrote a history page of epochal value. We have shown that nothing is impossible, if you really want it. And we are moved by it. It's all true. Together, we can do everything. A step at a time.
