Exercise Campi Flegrei 2025, test on November 6th at the Port of Naples
The car of Civil protection returns to action for a new national test on volcanic risk of the Phlegraean FieldsThe exercise will be held on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th November “Phlegraean Fields 2025", Promoted by Department of Civil Protection and Campania regionIn partnership with Prefecture of Naples, Municipalities in the red zone and Twinned regions of Sardinia and SicilyThe aim is to test, at an operational and organizational level, the national planning for volcanic risk, simulating an assisted removal of the population.
The dates and phases of the exercise
The exercise will be divided into two days. November 5 will be dedicated to command posts, with a test of the coordination procedures between agencies and operational structures. The following day, Thursday November 6, we will move on to the phase of real experimentation, with the simulation of evacuation of a population sample composed of 120 students and 15 teachers of the State Higher Institute Bernini – De Sanctis of Chiaia.
The group will be evacuated from the school around three o'clock. Waiting areas of the Municipality of Naples — Piazza Vittoria, Piazza San Nazzaro and Piazza San Luigi — thanks to the resources provided by ANM. Afterwards, participants will be transferred to theMeeting Area of the Port of Naples – Maritime Station with the buses made available by the Campania region, under the supervision of the police.
The test at the Meeting Area of the Port of Naples
This year's exercise will focus onMeeting Area of the Port of Naples, the only one not yet verified in the previous tests of 2024. This is one of the six areas identified in the National Civil Protection Plan for the Phlegraean FieldsIn this area all the registration, assistance and boarding procedures for the population towards the Twinned regions.
The area will be set up in the parking lot in front of the Maritime Station, with dedicated spaces for bus arrivals, reception, computerised registration, a health center of the ASL Napoli 1 Centroa whirlpool bath, refreshment area and baby care, information point and an Operational Coordination Post.
During the simulation, students and teachers will be registered through a digital system. Department of Civil Protection: depending on the district of origin, the twinned Region of destination will be assigned — Sardinia for Posillipo and Sicilia for Chiaia, San Ferdinando and Montecalvario.
An operation that completes the cycle of the EXE Flegrei
The "Campi Flegrei 2025" exercise completes the test cycle launched the previous year, which involved five of the six Encounter Areas envisaged by the national plan. This edition will test for the first time the maritime operational model, specific for the Maritime Station, from which the population would be transferred to the twinned regions in case of emergency.
La Campania region, through its Civil Protection structure and the Unified Regional Operations Room, will ensure the coordination and management of information flows between the various levels of intervention, ensuring a constant connection with the Operations Center of the Municipality of Naples.
The initiative represents a fundamental step for strengthen citizen preparedness and safety, verifying the effectiveness of evacuation procedures and the functioning of the infrastructure dedicated to managing volcanic risk in the Phlegraean Fields area.
