The players of the Italy national football team gathered at the end of a match

The Qatar 2022 World Cup is taking place these days, a competition in which Italy, unfortunately, was unable to take part. Despite this, the Azzurri have already turned their gaze to Euro 2024.

In the past few hours, the FIGC has chosen some of the stadiums in which Italy will play its home qualifying matches for Euro 2024. Among these stadiums there would be the Diego Armando Maradona of Naples.

Italy – England 2024: qualifying challenge in Naples

Diego Armando Maradona stadium would have been favored over the San Nicola di Bari, a facility undergoing renovation works which, probably, will not be able to be completed in time for the date on which the match will be played.

The Italian national team has been missing from Fuorigrotta for over 10 years. The last time the Azzurri walked the Maradona lawn (which was still called San Paolo at the time) the match ended 2-2, a poor result considering that the opposing team was Armenia.

What you need to know about Euro 2024

Euro 2024 will be theedition number 17 of the European championship football for national teams. The competition will return to being held in a single country, Germany, after the 2020 traveling championship. Italy, of course, will present itself as the reigning champion.

54 national teams will take part in the qualifiers, but only 23 will qualify for the final stages. Germany is already qualified by right. Italy, despite being the reigning champions, will have to earn qualification on the field.

Euro 2024 will start on June 14, 2024 and will end on June 26th.

Among the excluded teams is Russia. This measure is linked to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
