Madonna del Subacqueo Festival with free hydrofoil from Torre del Greco

On September 29, 2024, Ercolano celebrates its historic devotion to the Madonna of the Diver and the Fishermen with a series of events culminating in a marine procession that will involve the entire community. The faithful will be able to participate directly in this centuries-old tradition thanks to a hydrofoil that will depart from the port of Torre del Greco.

The path of the feast of the Madonna del Scuba Diver

The event will start from Church of Santa Maria di Loreto, from which the procession will start at 9.30 am. The statue of the Madonna del Subacqueo and dei Pescatori will then be transported up to the seaside park of Villa Favorita, where the celebration of Holy Mass will be held at 10 am. At the end of the mass, the statue will be carried in procession to the Molo Borbonico.

At the seaside park of Villa Favorita, at 10 am, the celebration of the Holy Mass will be held, a moment of meditation and devotion in which many faithful participate. Then follows the procession of the statue towards the Molo Borbonico.

The procession at sea

Once it reaches the Molo Borbonico, the statue is handed over to the Raggruppamento Subacquei e Incursori della Marina Militare. They will reposition it off Punta Quattro Venti, repeating a ritual that reaffirms the bond between Ercolano and the sea. The ceremony can be followed at sea thanks to a hydrofoil made available by the Alilauro Gruson company.

The celebration is not only a religious event but a moment of unity for the community, as underlined by the mayor of Ercolano, Ciro Buonajuto.

To allow everyone to witness the placing of the statue of the Madonnina in the sea, the Alilauro Gruson company has made a hydrofoil available free of charge departing from the port of Torre del Greco at 11:15.
