The Medieval Festival , one of the most popular historical reenactments in the area, is held annually in the village of Vairano Patenora , in the province of Caserta . Organized by the Pro Loco Vairano Patenora , the event involves the entire historic center for two days, with district tournaments , falconry displays , live music , and a tavern serving typical local specialties. The event, now in its nineteenth year, is an immersive experience in the local culture linked to the military strongholds of the Terra di Lavoro. Each year, the Palio della Vittoria is awarded to the district that excels in medieval games and challenges.
Who organizes the festival?
The entire event is organized by the Pro Loco Vairano Patenora , with the patronage of the Municipality of Vairano Patenora and the collaboration of numerous local organizations including the Italian Institute of Castles , historical reenactment companies , and various artisans and artists.
Among the main actors are:
- Castrum Vajrani, a group that animates historical parades and tournaments
- Company of the Defrauded, jugglers and fire-eaters
- The Minstrels of the Village, which musically accompany the shows
- The Knights of Cittarègia, protagonists of the fights and challenges

The artistic direction includes events designed to engage all age groups, with parallel activities for children and families. The event takes place in the heart of the Aragonese village , with stage settings that faithfully reproduce the atmosphere of the 15th century.
