Our recommendations
We want to recommend some events not to be missed at the Orient Festival:
- Chinese tea ceremony: called Kung fu cha, "tea prepared with care and attention", it implies the same kind of commitment that must be in athletic training and martial arts. Arranged the cups, the water is boiled in the teapot and poured into the cups which in turn will be emptied into the adjacent cups, in order to preheat them. The tea leaves are placed in the teapot and the water is poured into it, pouring it back into the cups from the first to the last and vice versa. These will be emptied again and the procedure will be repeated up to 6 times, showing every detail to the participants.
- Mandala: it is a process by which Buddhists believe that the cosmos formed from its center. It contains a complex symbolism and is represented with articulated geometric figures. In the Festival, 6 Monks from the Samten Choeling Monastery in Varanasi will build a spectacular mandala with colored sand by arranging the grains calmly, taking 2 days. The third day will be destroyed with a fascinating ceremony, because according to tradition this gesture represents transience, but also rebirth.
- Origami: the art of paper folding is both a technique, an art and a game. Participants will be shown how to create original and wonderful shapes using only paper, imagination and hands. Everyone will become an artist managing to create truly amazing animals, characters, flowers and objects.
- Taiko: the evocative concert of Japanese drums with the performance of the most famous group in Japan, the Masa Daiko. Centuries ago, Taiko was used to intimidate enemies, so it is very powerful, but today it is also played at religious and other festivals.
