Francesco Pannofino at the Diana Theater with “Who is I?”: a comedy between reality and the unconscious

From 26 February at 9 March 2025, Diana Theater of Naples host “Who am I?”, show written and directed by Angelo Longoni. The comedy, which explores the border between reality, dream and unconscious, will see on stage Francesco Pannofino, flanked by his wife Emmanuel Rossi, from the son Andrea Pannofino and Eleonora Ivone, the director's wife.

A Journey Between Psychoanalysis and Absurdity

The protagonist, Leo Mayer, is an intellectual and psychoanalyst whose certainties are shaken by a bizarre dream: he finds himself a guest on a grotesque talk show, hosted by his own psychiatric patients. Every rule of behavior is overturned, mixing sarcasm and reflection in a surreal theatrical experience. But his existence unfolds on multiple levels: in addition to the television distortion, there is also the real life, with its baggage of relationships, conflicts and deep bonds.

In this limbo between existence and dissolution, Leo is forced to confront the most important figures in his life: his wife, his son and his lover. The narrative questions universal themes such as love, forgiveness and the fear of death, in a plot that blurs the boundaries between dream and reality.

A production between emotion and experimentation

The play is produced by New Theatre by Marco Balsamo and uses the scenography of Gianluca Amodio, of the customs of Lia Morandini and the music of Paolo Vivaldi, realized in collaboration with Aldina VitelliThe visual section is enriched by videos curated by Gianluca Amodio and Gianni Del Popolo, while the directorial assistance is entrusted to Lorenzo Rossi.

“Who am I?” It promises to be an engaging show, capable of dragging the audience into a dreamlike and profound dimension, where irony and reflection blend together in a unique theatrical experience.
