THEOrchestra of the San Carlo Theater he will perform for free in beautiful Cathedral of Naples in a concert in honor of the celebrations for San Gennaro, which continued for a few more days. Thursday 30 September 2021 will be proposed The Cantata for San Gennaro with Maestro Josè Luis Basso who will be the director of the evening and will direct the Orchestra.
It is a'very important execution because La Cantata per San Gennaro was proposed during the vigil on the eve of the miracle and for some years it was missing.
Here the bishop Mimmo Battaglia welcomed the beautiful proposal of the San Carlo Theater for the realization of a unique event.
The Cantata for San Gennaro which also inspired Mozart
In the seventeenth century, every year a composite was proposed to create a work suitable for the celebration of the saint and in 1788 it was Cajetan Manna to write this Cantata for San Gennaro which will be performed by the Massimo Napoletano Orchestra with a opera type cut, as it was desired by its author.
Between baroque arias, virtuosity, the song of a countertenor and a alto, the concert will surely be a gem to follow.
This work, according to the words of Maestro Josè Luis Basso, has in itself a '"Mozartian" imprint and this means that the Austrian composer, when he went to Naples to study and learn, also listened very carefully to this way of making music and made it his own. Proof that even the great Mozart was inspired by the Neapolitan school.
