Chiaia funicular in Naples, in 2023 it will be closed for urgent works

Chiaia Funicular

Still not very comforting news for public transport a Napoli because we learn that the Chiaia funicular will close in 2023 for works, interventions that are now really necessary and cannot be postponed.

Mayor Gaetano Manfredi announced this, explaining that it is essential to proceed with the plant maintenance considering that it has been postponed too many times and has never been implemented. It is now at the limit of exercise time e we cannot wait any longer.

It is not yet known what the precise start date will be nor when they will end, but a plan is already in place that will try to avoid too many problems and inconvenience to travelers.

An important link between Vomero and Chiaia

The Chiaia funicular connects the two districts of Vomero and Chiaia and yours stops are Cimarosa, Palazzolo, Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Parco Margherita.

Two stops are also useful exchange points with the subways since from Cimarosa you can easily reach the Vanvitelli stop of metro line 1, while the stop is reached from Parco Margherita Amedeo station of metro line 2.

Also for these important nodes, the Chiaia funicular is one of the most used by citizens and tourists and every year they are about 3 million travelers who use it.

The new trains of the metro line 1

As announced several times, i new metro line 1 trains are expected to arrive this summer, but the mayor Manfredi has communicated that unfortunately we will have to wait a little more for bureaucratic matters.

Safety is important, says the mayor, but if it leads to too much bureaucracy then the times get longer and the situation worsens. We hope that, as expected, there will be an acceleration this week for the commissioning of these new trains.
