Galleria Laziale, construction work begins September 1st: traffic restrictions and alternative routes.

The City of Naples has instituted a temporary traffic restriction in the Galleria Laziale for construction work: traffic restrictions for two separate periods between September 1 and 11, 2026, with mandatory alternative routes for those traveling between Fuorigrotta and the city center. This is provided for in Executive Order No. 1439 of August 12, 2026.

Works in Galleria Laziale, the dates

The first intervention window will run from September 1st to 4th, 2026 , from 8:00 AM to 15:00 PM , and in any case until no longer necessary. During this period, vehicle transit in the bus lane from Piazza Sannazzaro towards Via Fuorigrotta is prohibited.

During the ban, vehicles heading from Piazza Sannazzaro towards Fuorigrotta will alternatively use the Galleria Quattro Giornate.

The second window, from September 7th to 11th

The second phase of the work is scheduled for September 7-11, 2026 , from 22:00 PM to 5:00 AM , or until no longer necessary. In this case, the traffic ban applies to the lanes of the Galleria Laziale from Via Fuorigrotta toward Piazza Sannazzaro.

Alternative route from Fuorigrotta

For those coming from Fuorigrotta and heading towards the city center, the alternative route indicated by the ordinance is as follows:

• via Caravaggio
• via Manzoni
• Via Nuova Cinthia
• Naples ring road, direction Capodichino (Centro exit)
• via Diocleziano
• Aosta Cavalry Avenue
• via Pasquale Leonardi Cattolica
• Coroglio descent
• via Posillipo

Useful information for motorists

The restrictions will remain in effect until further notice . It is recommended to pay attention to temporary signs and plan alternative routes during the affected times. The measures only apply to the Galleria Laziale and do not affect traffic in surrounding areas outside of the indicated hours.
