Petrol station strike revoked: stations and pumps open on 26 January

gas stations

Citizens were already ready to face a new day of gas station strike, but apparently there will be no need. She was canceled the second day of the strike by the acronyms FEGICA and FIGISC. This decision was made following a meeting afternoon with the representatives of the government, which made it possible to find a agreement satisfactory for both parties.

The managers have specified that the decision to revoke the strike has been taken “in favor of motorists, certainly not of the government”. Furthermore, another acronym, the FAIB, had previously announced the reduction of the strike a 24 hours.

The Ministry of Enterprise has apparently managed to obtain the much hoped-for result from the discussion with the trade union representatives of the petrol stations, convened at the last minute at 15 pm this afternoon in via Veneto.

So, the gas station strike is ended January 25, 2023 at 19:00thus ensuring greater stability for motorists and for the fuel sector in general. The 26st January, accordingly, the pumps and petrol stations will be usable normally.

Why did the gas station attendants go on strike?

The protest flyer stated that the decision to close was due to the protest against the smear campaign aimed at the category and against the inadequate measures taken by the government, which only cause damage to managers without protecting i consumers. The goal is avoid more increases of the price of fuels. Furthermore, Fegica stated:

“The government increases petrol prices with interventions on excise duties but has unloaded the responsibilities on petrol station operators by calling them speculators. And this even after it was ascertained by "Mister Prices" that the behavior of petrol stations is in line with the movements of excise duties".

The managers therefore state that "first we want to restore the truth and then we want to have a government that acts as the government and that is, that intervenes on the endemic problems of this sector which also has problems in terms of legality, just think that 13 billion euros a year are escaped by petty crime, given that 7000 plants are in the hands of the mafia and 30% of the fuel sold in Italy is clandestine".
