Ten years after the tragedy of via napoli in capodimonte: the massacre of 15th may 2015

It was an afternoon like many others in via Napoli to Capodimonte, when on May 15, 2015 the neighborhood was hit by a sudden explosion of violence. Giulio Murolo, nurse of 49 years, began to to shoot wildly from the balcony of his house, hitting anyone in his field of vision. In a few moments the area transformed into a scene of terror, leaving on the ground five victims. Among these were also two members of the police force: the Captain Francesco Bruner and Lieutenant Vincenzo Cinque, both of the Naples municipal police. That day deeply marked the city, leaving a wound that still hasn't healed today.

What time does the event start?

The appointment will open at 10:00 of Council Chamber of Municipality 7in Casale Square 6/7, where an official moment of discussion and institutional presence will be held. It will be an opportunity to underline, through the words of those who represent the institutions, the importance of active memory and constant control of the territory. Born to give continuity to a collective commitment, the association wants to offer listening, active presence e spaces for concrete action to those who have been touched by violence. The founders will speak to tell the story of the birth of a project that transforms mourning into determination, and memory into an opportunity for shared rebirth. The following will speak:

The Eucharistic celebration in Secondigliano

All 18:30, we will move to the Secondigliano Crossroads, a place full of meaning for those who choose not to forget every year. Here will be held a Eucharistic celebration in memory of the victims of May 15, 2015, a collective moment to gather in silence and sharing. The religious function will be presided over by symbolic figures of the territory, expression of a spirituality that accompanies the community on the path between wound and rebirth.
