The Leisures of Hercules 2026: Three Evenings on the Ancient Beach of Herculaneum

From September 10 to September 12, 2026 back to Ercolano Archaeological Park the review “The Leisures of Hercules”, the summer event with lecture-shows, theatrical readings and concerts which for three evenings transforms theAncient Beach in an open-air stage, among the ruins returned by the eruption of 79 AD. The 2026 edition has as its common thread the combination love and war, with the subtitle “between myth, poetry and philosophy”.

The program: Mascino, Ragonese, Sparagna and Di Bella

Every evening (the Park opens from 20:00 (at 24:00 am) alternates a conversation with scenic readings and a final concert, in a continuous dialogue between ancient and modern:

• September 10th “In the Melee. Between Love and War” with Lucia Mascino e Laura Pepe, then “Songs of love and war” with Ambrogio Sparagna e Raphael Simeoni in concert
• September 11th “Furiose. On the madness of love” with Carmen Gallo, Isabella Ragonese e Silvia Romani, then “The Baker and the Astronomer. The Two Lives of Johann Sebastian Bach” with Carlo Boccadoro
• September 12th “Kisses and bites. If love tears you apart” with Gennaro Carillo e Federica Fracassi, closing with Francesco Di Bella and his “Holy Water” in concert

Tickets and practical information

Access to each evening is permitted to a maximum of 400 Guests, with entrance from Resin Course 187 and the Via dei Papiri Ercolanesi 19Tickets already on sale at CoopCulture:

• Full: 10 €
• Reduced 18-25 years (EU citizens): 5 euros
• Subscription on all three evenings: 15 euros
• Free for minors, disabled people with companions and park season ticket holders

Comfortable shoes and insect repellent are recommended. Free parking is available at the Giulio Rodinò and Iovino Scotellaro schools, while paid parking is available at the Herculaneum Parking on Via dei Papiri Ercolanesi.
