Chris Rock , during the show in question, reportedly said that for him, hosting the 2023 Oscars ceremony would be like asking Nicole Brown Simpson to go back to the restaurant.
Former American football player OJ Simpson had been charged with the murder , but was later acquitted in 1995 after a televised trial that went around the world.
The night she and her friend Ron Goldman died, Nicole Brown Simpson had left a pair of glasses at a restaurant where Goldman worked, and as a favor, he had brought them back to her house.
Chris Rock's joke , predictably, infuriated not only his viewers, but also the press and the family members of Brown Simpson and the former American football player, which is why the comedian, after saying he was joking, announced that he will not host the 2023 Oscars.
