Tony Effe censored? Rai takes away his necklace, here's why

Il 2025 Festival of Sanremo is always at the center of attention for performances, controversies and unexpected moments. Among the episodes that have caused discussion, there is the one that involved Tony Effe, forced to perform without his necklace. The rapper, visibly annoyed, expressed his disappointment live on Rai Radio 2, sparking debate on social media. But why did Rai impose this rule? And why haven't other artists been subjected to the same treatment?

Tony Effe furious after the performance

After his performance on the Ariston stage, Tony Effe took part in an interview on Rai Radio 2, where he showed all his anger: “How am I? I’m really angry right now. Why? They took my necklace off before I went on stage. I don’t know why, ask them. I’m so angry, I can’t believe it”The rapper, accustomed to showing off a recognizable and distinctive look, did not appreciate this imposition, so much so that he made his frustration public.

Why did RAI make him take off the necklace?

The situation was clarified by Marcello Ciannamea, director of Rai Prime Time Entertainment, who answered journalists' questions directly: “There is a rule included in the Festival regulations and in the contract with the record companies that prohibits associating the image of the competing artist, but also of the guests, with brands and logos”.

This rule imposes a rigorous control on the artists' looks before they go on stage, to avoid any form of unauthorized advertising. The series of Tony Effe, recognized as a model of Tiffany, was therefore considered too obvious and therefore removed to comply with the legislation.

The double standard with other artists?

While the rules appear clear, some viewers have noted inconsistencies in the application of the regulation. Damian David, for example, showed off a necklace of Bulgari without problems, while VAT Zanicchi he had to remove a watch that was considered too recognizable.

So some doubts have been raised about the coherence of the controls and the interpretation of the rule, raising the question: is the regulation applied fairly or do some artists receive different treatment? The debate remains open, and there is no shortage of polemical comments on social media about the management of this affair.
