Insigne still without a team: what happened to the former Napoli captain and what's next for him?

Lorenzo Insigne is still without a team. The former Napoli captain, born in 1991, is waiting for the right call to return to the game after the end of his Canadian adventure with Toronto FC in Major League Soccer. This situation is a hot topic for Napoli fans, who remain deeply attached to their former number 24.

What happened to Insigne after Toronto?

After a full career with Napoli, where he was captain and icon, Insigne chose an MLS adventure in 2022. After three years in Toronto, the contract ended, and the player has been a free agent for a few months : free to sign with any club, without a transfer fee.

His name has been linked to several clubs recently, but no deal has been finalized so far. Meanwhile, the former Italian national team striker is training to stay ready.

Why is he still without a team?

The main reason is the desire to carefully choose the right destination. Insigne has always said he wants to return to play in Italy , perhaps in Serie A, and for this reason he is carefully evaluating offers: a return to the Italian league would also bring him closer to his family and loved ones after his years in North America.

Age is not a threat: his experience and quality in his left foot remain intact, and a free agent could represent an opportunity for several teams.
