Evening guided tour of the Capodimonte Astronomical Observatory

The Capodimonte Observatory will be the scene of a beautiful guided tour in space! Here is the program!

The universe, the stars, the constellations and the galaxies have always fascinated man, teasing her Curiosity and the intellect.

To get to know the sky and its secrets more closely, the appointment is atAstronomical Observatory of Capodimonte that the 1 February 2015, will extraordinarily open its doors for a special evening guided tour.

The initiative, organized by the Vivere Napoli Association, will immerse visitors through a space path under the guidance of specialized astronomers.

The stars will be observed, the Luna, Jupiter and it will be possible to learn the phenomena at the base of the celestial movements.

In addition the participants will be conducted at the Museum of astronomical instruments, a prestigious treasure containing the ancient collection of the Neapolitan Observatory. Many activities in the program, starting from the "space-time tunnel", a special journey through the solar system, up to virtual libraries and simulated historical routes that will retrace the first landing on the Moon.

Among riflescopes, micrometers and levels, to be admired will also be the magnificent dome of the Meridian Circle, a particular scientific device composed of a rotating telescope, fixed in such a way as to move exclusively on the meridian line.

  • Welcome in the Observatory Auditorium with brief welcome and explanation of the history and scientific activities carried out in the Observatory
  • Visit to the Planetarium, an instrument that simulates the movements of the celestial sphere and the phenomena that interest it at all latitudes and, therefore, allows you to make a virtual journey between stars constellations, galaxies and nebulae offering a unique and suggestive experience.
  • Visit Museum of astronomical instruments and / or Meridian Circle
  • Observation at the telescope that will allow us to look closely at the Moon and Jupiter
