As we know, finally after a two-year break, the Comicon in Naples and, as part of this event dedicated to comics and video games, it also returns Imago, the historic graphic and comic contest.
This is a competition in which anyone can participate, the important thing is that you are not a professional. It means not you have to earn from your work as an artist.
The contest is for prizes, so based on your place in the standings at the end of the event, you will receive a prize to celebrate your victory. This year, however, there is something more because the Special Borbone Coffee Award has also been introduced. But let's see all the details of this contest together.
This year's theme
Imago's theme is "'na tazzulella 'and cafè”And this year the contest also makes use of the prestigious collaboration of Caffè Borbone, official sponsor.
Who can participate in Imago
There are no age limits, anyone can participate in the contest. What you are and students, hobbyists o simple enthusiasts, you can try your hand at this graphic and comic contest by submitting your works suitable for this year's theme. We reiterate, however, that professionals are not allowed.
How to participate in Imago
All you have to do is produce an elaborate on coffee intended as a social ritual and cultural symbol. We know that coffee is an important symbol for us Neapolitans who love it in all its forms: black, foamed, stained, shaken. We recall that the espresso was also a candidate for the title of "Intangible Heritage of Humanity" recognized by UNESCO.
The drawing, illustration, graphic or comic must have the following characteristics:
- drawn on a page on an A3 size sheet pasted on a slightly larger black card;
- must be anonymous;
- must attach the participation form attached to the back of the paper
- in addition to the paper work, it is advisable to send a photo of the work by e-mail, writing (not photographing the card) your personal data in the same.
The paper must be sent no later than 20.00 pm on April 9th with the application form.
Another important thing: the drawing will have to be original and not copied in order to be admitted, therefore, documents that are considered plagiarism are not accepted.

The sections of Imago
Participants will be divided into 4 sections based on age:
- 1a) Short comics (for candidates up to 15 years of age);
- 1b) Short comics (for candidates aged 16 and over);
- 2a) Drawing / Graphics / Illustration (for candidates up to 15 years of age);
- 2b) Drawing / Graphics / Illustration (for candidates aged 16 and over.
You do not have to enter your name on the paper because the drawings will be selected and only some of them will be exhibited anonymously at the 'Kids area of the COMICON. Those selected will be entitled to a free ticket for the Comicon.

The Imago awards
The papers will be voted by the public during the 4 days of Comicon.
The works that have received the highest number of preferences in the 4 categories will be awarded. They will be 12 winners: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each section will win awards provided by Comicon and partners, i.e .:
- license plate;
- Comicon comics;
- drawing material from Ginoramaglia;
- table games from the Gargoyle Tavern;
- internships and courses in graphics and comics at ILAS AND ITALIAN SCHOOL OF COMIX;
- gadget from the official sponsor Caffè Borbone.
The Organization may also assign Mentions o Special Awards at its sole discretion.
As anticipated there will also be:
- il Caffè Borbone Special Award ”: offers the winner a 3-month internship at the graphic office of the Neapolitan coffee company. It will be only for the diplomats and unemployed and will be chosen by a special jury. This initiative is also conceived as an opportunity for enrichment and training for these two categories.
The winners will be announced on April 25, the last day of Comicon, at 17.00 pm, in the Sala Italia of the Mediterranean Theater and there will be the award ceremony.
The deadline and where to deliver the paper
The last day you can submit your paper is the April 9 2022. You will have to carry it by hand or send it by ordinary mail to the shop "La Taverna del Gargoyle”Which is located in Via Francesco Verrotti 16 at Vomero.
