L'Neapolitan Amateur Astronomers Union, the association of Neapolitans passionate about astronomy that deals with dissemination in this field, has started a collaboration with the City of Bacoli and several interesting ones will be organized events starting in April 2022, all at the entrance free of charge.

It will obviously also be observations of the sky, both in the evening and during the day, with which we will be able to admire the stars, the objects of the deep sky, the Luna and also the Sun (of course with the appropriate eye protection. Remember never to observe the sun with the naked eye!).

The program is titled "The sky of Bacoli 2022", enjoys the moral patronage of the INAF-Capodimonte Astronomical Observatory and is also part of a broader calendar of initiatives to be held in the Campi Flegrei on the occasion of"Procida Capital of Culture":

Five meetings are scheduled between April and October both in Bourbon Park Bacoli where there is also the Casina Vanvitelliana, both in the premises of the "Plinio il Vecchio" Municipal Library housed in the beautiful Cerillo Park.

The program of events

Each appointment includes one meeting and one conversation with an expert of the subject matter of the day and the distinguished guests will be:

  • the Director of INAF-OACN, Marcella Marconi;
  • the solar astronomer of INAF-OACN, Clementina Sasso;
  • the astrophysicist of Frederick II Giovanni Covone;
  • UAN members Luigi Civita and Franco Ruggieri.

After each event there will be theobservation of the sky together with UAN members with the telescope, but also with the naked eye. For the events that will take place in the morning, they are also provided demonstrations on how sundials work and observations of the Sun insecurity. Here they are in detail.
